10/09/15: Traffic Advisory

Beginning the week of October 19th, 2015, a new traffic alignment will be in effect:
  • Northbound Avenue E traffic will be shifted to a new alignment, east of the Connector Bridge, between E50th Street and the Toll Plaza.
  • Due to this new alignment, making a left turn at 53rd Street will no longer be possible.
  • The last left turn for Bayonne before the Toll Plaza will be at 50th Street.
  • Traffic from Port Jersey Boulevard to the Turnpike will no longer be able to make a right turn onto the service road at 53rd Street.

09/18/15: Traffic Advisory

For the weekend of 9/18/2015:

Newark Bay Bridge (Interchange 14-14C):

Eastbound: No closures scheduled.

Westbound Interchange 14C – 14: Traffic will be reduced to one lane from 9P Friday to 5A Monday. This closing is necessary to address high priority and emergent bridge deck repairs in the westbound travel lanes. This work has been coordinated with westbound Pulaski and the Bayonne Bridge, both of which will remain open during peak periods Saturday and Sunday. Jersey City (Jersey Avenue – Interchange 14C):

Eastbound: No closures scheduled.

Westbound: One lane will be maintained on I78/Turnpike Westbound at Jersey Avenue (current condition).

Motorists can call 511 from any phone (Listen for the initial voice prompt and ask for traffic conditions. Motorists can ask for a specific Highway, City, or even a point of interest. 08/10/15: Traffic Advisory

Connector Bridge (Bridge from the Toll Plaza to Port Jersey Boulevard)

A work zone will be created on the bridge in advance of demolition work. During the week of 08/10/15, construction barrier will be placed on the structure to facilitate this work. Short duration traffic holds will be used to accommodate the work. When completely installed, the work zone will result in narrowed travel lanes to and from the Toll Plaza for the next two years. Pedestrian usage of the bridge for access to and from Port Jersey Boulevard continues to be prohibited.

July 30 & 31: Traffic Advisory

JFK Boulevard:  Demolition work will be performed on the Turnpike Bridge over JFK Boulevard in Bayonne tomorrow, Thursday, July 30, 2015. This work requires the placement of a large crane on southbound JFK Boulevard with local impacts to traffic.  Beginning at 5:00AM, north and southbound (two way) traffic will be shifted onto the northbound roadway.  Temporary traffic holds will be implemented throughout the day in support of the work.  These traffic holds will effectively shut down JFK Boulevard to through traffic at Frontage Road (Ramp to Route 440).  The individual traffic holds are not expected to exceed one (1) hour.  The work is expected to be completed by 5:00PM.  Access to Frontage Road from JFK Boulevard will not be available.  A detour route has been established and the work will be supported by Bayonne and Jersey City Police Departments.

Avenue C:  Demolition work will be performed on the Turnpike Bridge over Avenue C in Jersey City on Friday, July 31, 2015. This work requires the placement of a large crane on southbound Avenue C with local impacts to traffic.  Beginning at 5:00AM, north and southbound (two way) traffic will be shifted onto the northbound roadway.  Two (2) temporary traffic holds will be implemented during the late morning in support of the work.  These traffic holds will shut down Avenue C to through traffic at Frontage Road (Ramp to Route 440).  The individual traffic holds are not expected to exceed one (1) hour.  The work is expected to be completed by 3:00PM.  Access to Frontage Road from Avenue C will not be affected.  A detour route has been established and the work will be supported by Bayonne and Jersey City Police Departments.

03/31/15 & 04/01/15: Traffic Advisory

On Tuesday, 03/31, PSE&G will be performing electrical service relocation work on the corner of E52nd Street and Avenue E in support of the Project. E52nd Street will not be closed but street parking in the vicinity of Avenue E will be impacted. Bayonne Police will be providing assistance.

On Wednesday, 04/01, E52nd Street will be closed at Avenue E, beginning at 8:30AM and ending at 3:30PM for utility work. Two way traffic on E52nd Street will be provided from Broadway. Bayonne Police will be providing assistance.

03/17/15 & 03/19/15: Traffic Advisory

Newark Bay Bridge:

**(CANCELLED): Eastbound Interchange 14-14B: The right lane and shoulder will be closed from 8pm Tuesday to 4am Wednesday. The left lane will remain open.

**(ON SCHEDULE): Westbound Interchange 14B-14: The right lane and shoulder will be closed from 9pm Thursday to 5am Friday. The left lane will remain open.
