Traffic Advisory: week of 08/22/16

During the week of 08/22/16, the intersection of Center Street and Chosin Few Way (in the former Military Ocean Terminal) will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in the eastbound direction for roadway reconstruction.  West bound traffic will be diverted to 40th Street.  This work will also be supported by Bayonne Police.

Upcoming NJTA Work: 8/19/16

For the weekend of 8/19/16:
Newark Bay Bridge (Interchange 14-14C):

Eastbound: Eastbound Ramp to 14A: This ramp will be reduced to one lane from 10P Friday to 4P Sunday. This closing will not extend onto the mainline and is scheduled to be complete before the Sunday evening activation of the Eastbound Shoulder Lane.

Westbound: Westbound Interchange 14A – 14: Traffic will be reduced to one lane from 10P Friday to 5A Monday. This closing is necessary to address high priority and emergent bridge deck repairs in the westbound travel lanes. This work has been coordinated with westbound Pulaski and the Bayonne Bridge, both of which will remain open during peak periods Saturday and Sunday. Jersey City (Jersey Avenue – Interchange 14C):
Eastbound: No closures scheduled.

06/22/16: Traffic Advisory

On Wednesday, 06/22/16, westbound Pulaski Street will be diverted to Port Jersey Boulevard, between Pulaski Lane West and Chosin Few Way, from 6:00AM to 4:00PM, to accommodate new drainage installation.  Eastbound traffic will remain in its current alignment.  This work will be supported by Bayonne and Jersey City Police.

06/16/16: Traffic Advisory

On Thursday, 06/16/16, an over sized steel beam will be delivered to the 14A project work site on Avenue E.  The delivery route will take the beam from Route 440 onto Avenue C to 53rd Street.  Residents on 53rd Street, between Avenue C and Broadway, are advised that street parking during the day on 06/16/16 will be restricted to accommodate the over sized load.

06/15/16: Traffic Advisory

On or about Wednesday, 06/15/16, the current two (2) northbound Route 440 travel lanes will be divided between Pulaski Street and Harbor Drive in Bayonne.  The left lane will be maintained in its current through alignment and the right lane will be shifted East (to the right) adjacent to the Northbound off ramp alignment and merge back onto the original two-lane configuration immediately South of Harbor Drive.  This traffic pattern will be in effect until late Spring 2017.

440 shift

Traffic Advisory (industrial area): May 26, 2016

Tomorrow during the day, there will be a traffic shift onto the new Chosin Few Way (formerly known as Peninsula Road) near the port and industrial area around the Jersey City border. Drivers on the new Chosin Few Way, between Port Jersey Boulevard and Pulaski Street, will shift onto the new road alignment which will be a one-way road heading southbound onto Pulaski Street.
Signs will also notify trucks and other drivers that the Northbound movement from Pulaski Street toward Port Jersey Boulevard will no longer be possible along the new Chosin Few Way due to the one-way configuration.

Traffic Advisory: Weekend of May 20-22

During the weekend of 05/20 – 05/22/16, Toll Lanes 1 & 2 (right side entering the Turnpike) will open and Toll Lanes 3 & 4 will be closed to accommodate staged construction. Toll Lanes 3 & 4 are expected to be closed for 10 weeks. Please refer to the graphic below.
In support of the Toll Plaza work, northbound Avenue E will be temporarily reduced to a single lane through this weekend between 52nd Street and the Toll Plaza to implement the change. This work will be supported by Bayonne Police.

04/21/16: Traffic Advisory

During the evening of 04/21/16, Avenue C will be closed between W57th Street and Frontage Road, 8:00PM Thursday to 4:00AM Friday, for steel girder erection.  Traffic will be diverted to local streets.
This work will be supported by Jersey City and Bayonne Police Departments.

April 4th Weekend Traffic Advisory

On Sunday, 04/03/16, between 6:00AM and 3:00PM, southbound Avenue E will be closed between 53rd Street and 51st Street and eastbound 53rd Street will be closed at Avenue E for utility work performed by PSE&G.  During this period, motorists should note the following:
  • Traffic exiting the Turnpike into Bayonne will be directed up westbound 53rd Street towards Broadway.
  • Eastbound 53rd Street between Broadway and Avenue E will be limited to local traffic to the businesses only.
  • All businesses on 53rd Street, including Value City and QuickChek, will remain open.
  • The Toll Plaza may be accessed via E. 49th Street.

Route 440 Traffic Advisory

On Thursday, 03/17/16, southbound Route 440 will be shifted west at the Pulaski Street intersection to create a work zone in the median. This shift in traffic requires the southbound right lane to be closed at the Route 185 split with Route 440. Route 440 southbound will open up to two lanes immediately south of the Route 185 merge and continue in a shifted alignment through the Pulaski Street intersection. This traffic shift and the right lane closure will be in place for one year.
