Hudson County Extension/Newark Bay Bridge Advisory
 
Westbound – Interchange 14A – 14: 
During the weekend of 09/22/17 – 09/25/17 the westbound Hudson County Extension between Interchange 14A and Interchange 14 (milepost N2.3 – N0.0), will be reduced to one lane from 9:00PM Friday to 5:00AM Monday. This work has been coordinated with westbound Pulaski Skyway and the Bayonne Bridge, both of which will remain open during peak periods Saturday and Sunday. This closing is necessary to address high priority and emergent bridge deck repairs in the westbound travel lanes.

Eastbound – Interchange 14C to Jersey Avenue:
During the weekend of 09/22/17 – 09/25/17 the eastbound Hudson County Extension between Interchange 14C and Jersey Avenue will be reduced to one lane from 8:00PM Friday to 5:00AM Monday. These closings are necessary to address high priority and emergent bridge deck repairs and resurfacing, which are required to maintain the eastbound roadway and shoulder lane during the Pulaski diversion.

On Thursday, 08/03/17, northbound Avenue E will be reduced to a single travel lane between 52nd Street and the Toll Plaza.  This new temporary traffic pattern will be in place through August 31, 2017.

Traffic Advisory: May 10, 2017

During the day on 05/10/17, northbound Avenue E will be shifted right to a new temporary alignment between 50th Street and 51st Street.  This new alignment will be in place for several months.  Please see graphic below.

Traffic Advisory: Weekend of May 6, 2017

During the weekend of 05/06/17NJ Transit Light Rail Service between 34th Street Station in Bayonne and Danforth Avenue Station in Jersey City will be maintained via NJ Transit bus service, 3:00AM Saturday morning through 3:00AM Monday morning. During this period, bridge structural steel will be erected over the NJ Transit and Conrail train tracks.  CLICK HERE for more information.

For the weekend of 4/28/2017:

Newark Bay Bridge (Interchange 14-14C):

Eastbound Interchange 14-14A: Traffic will be reduced to one lane from 9P Friday to 5A Monday. This closing will include a half ramp closing at Interchange 14A exit ramp starting at 9P Friday. One lane of traffic will be maintained on the Interchange 14A exit ramp. This has been coordinated with the Bayonne Bridge, which will remain open during peak periods Saturday and Sunday. These closings are necessary to address high priority and emergent bridge deck repairs and resurfacing, which are required to maintain the eastbound roadway and shoulder lane during the Pulaski diversion. The eastbound shoulder lane will not be in use during this closure.

Alternate routes are available via 15E to 440 south (if traveling from the north), or through Staten Island, NY to the Bayonne Bridge (if traveling from the south). Traffic Advisory: April 28, 2017

On Friday, 04/28/17, from 9:00AM to 3:00PM, southbound Route 440 travel lanes will be shifted left along the median barrier and a work zone will be created on the right (outside) between Route 185 and Pulaski Street.
Also on Friday evening, 04/28/17, from 8:00PM to 4:00AM, northbound Route 440 travel lanes will be shifted left along the median barrier between Pulaski Street and Harbor Drive. The northbound Route 440 ramp to the Turnpike will be maintained on the far right (outside).
These new traffic patterns are expected to be in place through Fall 2017.

Traffic Advisory: Weekend of 04/21/17

14A Toll Plaza:  During the weekend of 04/21/17, from 9:00PM Friday through 1:00PM Saturday, asphalt paving construction work will be performed in Toll Lanes 3 & 4 after traffic passes through the Toll Plaza heading towards the Hudson County Extension. Traffic will be split before the Toll Plaza and motorists will need to choose to stay right for the eastbound extension (JC/NYC)  or to the left for the westbound extension (Newark) before passing through the Toll Plaza. Once traffic passes through the Toll Plaza, motorists will not be able to switch lanes. A VMS sign will be placed at Toll Lanes 3 & 4 to direct traffic left and right. Work will be supported by Bayonne and State Police.
Port Jersey Boulevard Intersection:  During the weekend of 04/21/17, roadway and asphalt paving construction will be performed at the Port Jersey Boulevard intersection at the ramp to northbound Route 440.  All eastbound traffic from the Turnpike to Port Jersey Boulevard (and the Port Marine Terminals) will be directed to Pulaski Street and all westbound traffic from Port Jersey Boulevard will be directed to Route 440 and the Turnpike Ramp via Pulaski Street.  Work will be supported by Bayonne Police.

Traffic Advisory: March 18, 2017

On Saturday 03/18/17, from 6:30AM to 2:30PM, rehabilitation work within the Toll Plaza area will be performed in a dedicated work zone. There will be no lane closures associated with this work. Please note that lane designations for cash and EZ Pass may be temporarily adjusted to prevent delays.

Traffic Advisory: March 9-10, 2017

During the evenings of 03/09/17 and 03/10/17, nighttime detours of northbound Route 440 will be required immediately north of Pulaski Street, 8:00PM to 4:00AM, for bridge structural steel erection. All northbound Route 440 traffic will be diverted eastbound on Pulaski Street to Port Jersey Boulevard and onto either northbound Route 440 or the Turnpike. Work will be supported by Bayonne PD.
