03/30/18: Construction Update

The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Toll Plaza
  • East side (entering the Turnpike): renovation of existing Toll Utility Building continues.
  • Beginning the week of 04/03/18, nighttime asphalt paving work will be performed in the Toll Plaza and on Avenue E. Nighttime traffic shifts and temporary detours will be used to accomplish the work. This work will be supported by State and Bayonne Police.
Ramps between the Toll Plaza and the Hudson County Extension (HCE)
  • No work planned.
Avenue E / Proposed Roundabout
  • Continue new roadway construction on the Roundabout of Avenue E.
  • Beginning the weeks of 04/03/18 and 04/09/18, nighttime asphalt paving work will be performed on Avenue E, between 53rd Street and 50th Street. Nighttime asphalt paving work will also be performed on 53rd Street and 52nd Street between Avenue E and Broadway. Nighttime traffic shifts and temporary detours will be used to accomplish the work.  This work will be supported by Bayonne Police.
Connector Bridge (Bridge from the Toll Plaza to Port Jersey Boulevard)
  • Pedestrian usage of the bridge for access to and from Port Jersey Boulevard continues to be prohibited.
Route 440 and Pulaski Street Intersection / Jughandle
  • Continue traffic signal construction on Route 440.
  • During the week of 04/03/18, nighttime work will be performed on Route 440 in preparation for paving. Nighttime traffic shifts and temporary detours will be used to accomplish the work. This work will be supported by Bayonne Police.
  • During the evening of 04/04/18, the ramp from northbound Route 440 to the Turnpike will be closed for paving operations. Traffic to the Turnpike will be detoured to Pulaski Street. This work will be supported by Bayonne Police.
  • During the week of 04/16/18, nighttime asphalt paving work will be performed on Route 440. This work will be supported by Bayonne Police.
Ramp Area East of Route 440
  • Continue traffic signal construction on Port Jersey Boulevard.
  • During the week of 04/09/18, nighttime asphalt paving work will be performed on the new ramps and roadways to and from Route 440, Pulaski Street and Port Jersey Boulevard. Nighttime traffic shifts and temporary detours will be used to accomplish the work. This work will be supported by Bayonne Police.
